Who Is Ilan Goldenberg, Kamala Harris’s New Liaison to the Jews? Hint: He is Very Bad for the Jews
Adam Kredo - 8/13/24
Under pressure to demonstrate she is not as hostile to Israel as some might believe, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris on Monday named a campaign liaison to the Jewish community.
He is Ilan Goldenberg, who served as an adviser to Harris on the Middle East before transitioning to his new role. Now he will guide the campaign on "issues related to the U.S.-Israel relationship, the war in Gaza, and the broader Middle East," a campaign aide told Jewish Insider....
Goldenberg has longstanding ties to the anti-Israel group J Street and served as a foreign policy adviser to Elizabeth Warren’s failed 2020 presidential bid. Throughout his professional career, both in and out of government, he has served as a public defender of the Democratic party’s criticisms of Israel, a critic of the GOP’s efforts to strengthen ties with the Jewish state, and a proponent of deepening diplomatic relations with Iran.
During his tenure as her Middle East adviser, Harris has offered pushback on Biden's public support for Israel and support for pro-Hamas protesters in the United States. She did not, for example, attend Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress late last month, and has extended sympathy to anti-Israel and anti-Semitic campus agitators, telling the Nation in July that "they are showing exactly what the human emotion should be, as a response to Gaza."
She rebuked the Jewish state in March for sparking a "humanitarian catastrophe" in Gaza and called for an immediate Israeli ceasefire.
Before joining the Biden administration in 2021, Goldenberg participated in a briefing organized by the anti-Israel group J Street in which he described President Joe Biden’s historically pro-Israel view as "old school" and said the United States must "publicly criticize the Israelis" in order to pressure them to accept a ceasefire.
During Warren’s failed presidential bid, with Goldenberg by her side, the Massachusetts senator urged the Jewish state to end its "occupation" and create "an independent and sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip living alongside Israel." ....
Goldenberg was also a vocal critic of the Trump administration’s approach to the region, panning the president’s decision to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, which he described as a "bad idea" that should only take place if the United States accompanies it with a "formal recognition of the state of Palestine."...
He was also critical of the Trump administration’s decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal....
And when the Obama administration took a parting shot against Israel shortly before Trump took office, Goldenberg broke with a majority of congressional Democrats and defended the move. In a January 2017 op-ed for the National Interest, he said the administration's abstention from a U.N. vote condemning Israel’s decision to build homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem was "necessary and appropriate," adding that his former boss "made the right call" to rebuke Israel on the international stage. Then-U.N. ambassador Samantha Power could have killed the vote with a veto, and her refusal to do so prompted a bipartisan resolution repudiating the Obama administration, which 109 Democrats supported.
Goldenberg subsequently argued in a 2020 policy paper that the U.S. must reverse Israel’s "settlement activity" by "ending the practice of shielding Israel from international consequences."
Goldenberg joins several other Harris campaign advisers who have long histories of pressuring Israel and advocating for strengthening relations with Iran. They include Harris's national security adviser, Phil Gordon, who is the subject of a congressional probe into his ties to a member of an Iranian government influence network, the Washington Free Beacon reported last month.
Kamala Harris boycotted Netanyahu's talk to Congress, avoiding her duties as vice president to preside over the joint session of Congress. She joined about 100 Democrats who boycotted the speech, while Republicans gave about 54 standing ovations to the talk.
When she deigned to meet with Netanyahu, she lectured the Israeli Prime Minister that it was his responsibility to find a way to compromise with Hamas to create a ceasefire. She not only drew a moral equivalency between our democratic ally and a terrorist organization by saying: "The war in Gaza is not a binary issue," she ignored the suffering and death of Israelis and focused instead on the suffering of the aggressors." We cannot look away in the face of these tragedies," she said. " I will not be silent."
But she is silent about who caused these tragedies and who is responsible for ending it. Her moral obtuseness is an insult to Israelis who are dying and died in the defense of their homeland and a danger to the world.
On the day when Biden steeped down, Harris called her long time pastor for spiritual guidance. Harris has repeatedly praised her her pastor fas a voice of leadership. At a memorial service for victims of 9/11 six days after the tragedy, her pastor, Amos Brown, blamed America for 9/11, echoing Obama's pastor Rev. Wright.
Rev. Brown is also on the California reparations task force and like Harris backs reparations to to descendants of slaves.
“I just want to, if you don’t mind for a moment, take a moment of personal privilege to talk about Dr. Brown. He has been on this journey with me every step of the way, from when I first thought about running for public office almost two decades ago,” Harris said at the NAACP national convention in 2022
“He has been such a voice of leadership, more leadership, and leadership in our nation. And so I want to thank you, Dr. Brown, for all that you are – all that you are,” she added.
Kamala Harris' national security advisor, Philip Gordon and possible future Secretary of State, "has a longstanding hostility to Israel and sympathy for Islamic terrorists". Daniel Greenfield, Jewish Press, July 29, 2024
Gordon wrote article urging Biden to reverse Trump's recognition of Israeli territory and to cut political and economic support for Israel. He described the Abraham Accords and normalization with countries like Saudi Arabia an "Arabian fantasy' which would be swept aside by a return to the campaign to create a Palestinian terrorist state.
Ilan Goldenberg, another key Harris adviser and her Middle East adviser, complained the Trump took Israel's side and objected to the moving of the US embassy to Jerusalem. Goldenberg has attacked the creation of communities in Judea and Samaria, authoring op eds like " Why Israeli's Settlement Construction Must Be Stopped".
Kamala's relentless criticism of Israel's self-defense is a preview of things to come. Behind her escalating rhetoric are a group of anti-Israel figures from the Obama administration.
What would Kamala foreign policy look like? The presence of Gordon and Goldenberg as her close advisors on the region shows it would be the Obama administration on steroids.
Biden EPA granted $50M to anti-Israel 'climate justice' group, Fox News, May 23, 2024

The Biden administration put a hold on a shipment of U.S.-made ammunition to Israel, two Israeli officials told Axios.
Why it matters: It is the first time since the Oct. 7 attack that the U.S. has stopped a weapons shipment intended for the Israeli military.

The Biden team’s moves to shelter Hamas are best understood in the context of a revolutionary program of domestic initiatives that aim to reconstitute American society on a new basis, and which in turn require the outright rejection of the country’s history and culture, its existing social arrangements, and constitutional order. The current regime has weaponized the security state, labeled its opponents “domestic terrorists,” and waged a third-world-style campaign against the opposition candidate because it’s a revisionist faction.
Its political and cultural manifesto is a program for remaking America, whether through social pressure, or censorship, or bureaucratic fiat, or threats of violence, or actual violence. Among other devices to transform America, the Biden administration has opened the border to at least 7 million illegal aliens (and counting), many from places in the Middle East where Hamas is revered, and for whom political violence means steady, well-paid work.
It’s not the traditional U.S.-led order in the Middle East that the revisionist faction, Obama’s faction, is most determined to dismantle but rather the existing order in the U.S. And it’s not Israel that it’s most keen to grind into dust, but America. For the party that Obama remade in his image to triumph at home, the Palestinians must win.
https://www.jns.org/hamas-health-ministry-cant-find-10000-names-of-those-it-claims-died/ (May 5, 2024 / JNS)
The Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health can’t provide names of more than 10,000 of the 34,000 it says have died during the war with Israel, the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies reports.
“While the Health Ministry conceded earlier this month that it has ‘incomplete data’ for nearly one-third of the deceased, this is the first admission that it lacks an essential data point necessary to establish these deaths have even taken place,” the Washington-based think tank noted on May 2.
“it is now clear the ministry does not have names for these individuals,” FDD said.
U.S. President Joe Biden has cited figures from the Gaza Health Ministry without identifying them as such.
“Before citing them again, he should ask the intelligence community to evaluate the data’s sources and accuracy,” FDD said. “Likewise, journalists should press the Gaza Health Ministry to explain the increasing number of inconsistencies in its reports.”
In reacting to the pro-Hamas demonstrations on college campuses, Biden said on April 22:"I condemn the antisemitic protests....I also condemn those who do not understand what's going on with the Palestinians." Biden is saying that pro-Hamas demonstrators are not worse than pro-Israel demonstrators. As Alan Dershowitz and Andrew Stein wrote in the WSJ, "Biden Has a "Very Fine People " Moment, April 24,2024:" Drawing such an equivalence is at best morally obtuse...Mr. Biden should unqualifiedly condemn antisemitism and harassment and violence against Jews." He hasn't.
On Hannity's program on April 23, Dershowitz pointed out that Biden created " the same moral equivalence he complained about in Charlottesville" over the campus Hamas protests. "What an outrageous moral comparison", Dershowitz said. "Nobody could in any way support what Hamas did, yet these kids are yelling, "I am Hamas. We want to repeat the rapes over again a thousand times. And he is equating that morally, with people who reasonably believe that what's happening to the Palestinians is largely the fault of Hamas. It's absolutely outrageous."
The U.S. State Department issued a report on April 22, 2024( https.//www.state.gov/reports/2023-country-reports-on-human-ruights-practices/) accusing Israel of committing human rights abuses in 2023. The report lumps Israel with Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Sudan, Afghanistan, Gaza and Cuba as a gross violator of human rights.
While the charges are absurd, they are also pernicious because they both undermine the moral authority of Israel and the IDF and embolden Israel's enemies. The adoption of BDS tactics by the Biden administration is a cynical attempt to win over anti-Israel voters ahead of the U.S. elections by delegitimizing Israel.
Secretary of State Blinken is also reportedly considering blacklisting one IDF unit under U.S. laws which prohibit the US government from selling arms to forces that violate human rights. Radical anti-Israel activists have demanded imposing sanctions on the IDF or its units and the Biden administration appears to be caving to this morally repugnant demand. This action will give the International Criminal court pretext to step in with arrest warrants for Israeli officials and soldiers for made up war crimes.

Former Amb. David Friedman called attention to the effects of Biden having no Iran policy in an April 25 Townhall article, "Joe Biden's Hitler Problem", https://townhall.com/columnists/david-friedman/2024/04/25/joe-bidens-hitler-problem-n2638170 "There is no excuse for Biden’s incoherent, or more likely nonexistent, Iran policy. There is no policy to prevent Iran from going nuclear, to prevent Iran from funding and training terrorists from Yemen to Iraq to Syria to Lebanon to Gaza, or to prevent Iran from adding to its already large stockpile of precision-guided ballistic missiles. Meanwhile, bombs are very literally raining down on Jerusalem. ...."
"These staffers, in overseeing the appeasement and enrichment of Iran, have advanced a practice that can directly be tied to the slaughter, rape and kidnapping of more that 1400 innocent Jews. And they have the audacity to compare Donald Trump to Hitler? "
